Retrace is a path memory game. A glowing copper path snakes across a grid of dots, segment by segment, and then it fades. Your job: trace the path back, from the start dot, in exactly the same order. Drag through the dots, tap them one by one, or use the arrow keys.
Every clean path adds a step. The grid grows from 4×4 to 6×6, the replay speeds up, and from level 6 the path starts crossing itself. Then come the Blackout rounds, where the dots disappear while the path plays and you have to place it by the glow alone.
Retrace is part of Unrot, a series of twenty short games that each put one mental skill to the test: memory, attention, speed or logic. It’s a pattern memory game for anyone who likes a quick challenge. Twenty games. Zero brainrot.
How to play
- Watch the path snake from the start dot to the end dot.
- When it fades, redraw it from the start dot: drag, tap the dots in order, or press the arrows.
- A wrong dot is a strike. You see the real path, then get a new one of the same length. Three strikes and the run is over.
- From level 6 paths cross themselves. From level 8, every third round is a Blackout: no dots until you draw.
Scoring
- Your score is the longest path you trace, in steps.
- A level cleared with no strikes is perfect, and perfect levels break ties.
- Play the Daily for one scored run on the same paths as everyone else, and keep your Unrot streak alive.
Tips
- Don’t memorize dots. Memorize moves: “right two, down, right, up three”.
- Say the turns in your head while the path plays. The little notes rise with every dot, which helps you keep count.
- At a crossing, the path always goes straight through. It never turns on a dot it already visited.
- In a Blackout, use the card’s edges as your ruler: note how far the start dot is from a corner.
