On Time

A stopwatch game. Stop the timer at exactly the target, then do it blind.

On Time is a stopwatch game with one job: stop the timer at exactly the target. The order ticket says 5.00, you press START, the big digits start counting… and then the kettle boils over and steam fogs the display. Now you’re counting in your head, and the whole kitchen is watching.

Every round the steam comes sooner, from more than half the time visible in round 1 to fully blind in round 7, which is always the classic 10 second challenge. Rounds 4 and 6 are Double Time: two stopwatches, two targets, one START, and you stop each one on its own beat. Nail it and the toast pops out of the toaster. Miss by a mile and the chicken faints.

On Time is part of Unrot, a series of short games that each put one mental skill to the test: memory, attention, timing, speed or logic. Zero brainrot.

How to play

  • Read the order ticket: that’s your target, like 5.00 seconds.
  • Press START (or wait a beat and it starts by itself). The digits count up.
  • When the steam rolls in, keep counting in your head.
  • Press STOP when you think you’ve hit the target exactly.
  • In Double Time (rounds 4 and 6), stop the left clock with F and the right one with J, or tap each button.

Scoring

  • Each stop scores up to 1000 points. Within about 17 ms is a PERFECT; a second off or more scores 0.
  • Seven rounds, so a flawless run is 7000. Your result also shows your average error in milliseconds.
  • Play the Daily for one scored run on the same targets as everyone else, and keep your Unrot streak alive.

Tips

  • Count while the digits are still visible and match your inner count to them. Then keep that exact rhythm when the steam hits.
  • The ticks you hear each second stop with the steam. Keep the beat going in your head.
  • Odd targets like 6.35 are easier if you count whole seconds, then add the last bit as a short pause.
  • In Double Time, focus on the shorter clock first. Once it’s stopped, give the long one your full attention.

FAQ

Is On Time free?

Yes. On Time is free to play in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no download and no account.

How does the stopwatch game work?

Each round an order ticket gives you a target, like 5.00 seconds. Press START and the digits count up, then steam rolls over the display and you have to feel the rest of the time. Press STOP when you think you've hit the target exactly.

How is my score calculated?

Every stop scores up to 1000 points. Within one frame of the target (about 17 ms) is a PERFECT and scores the full 1000; the further off you are, the fewer points, down to 0 at a full second early or late. Seven rounds, so the best possible run is 7000. Your share card also shows your average error in milliseconds.

What is Double Time?

Rounds 4 and 6 put two stopwatches on the counter with different targets, say 3.75 and 6.50. One START runs both, and you stop each on its own: F or the left button for the left clock, J or the right button for the right one. Both errors count.

Is the last round the 10 second challenge?

Yes. Round 7 is always 10.00 seconds, and the steam covers the digits from the very first moment, so the whole count is in your head.
