Zigzag

A connect the dots game with a switch. 1, A, 2, B… How fast can you go?

Zigzag is a connect the dots game with a catch: you have to keep switching. Circles labeled 1 to 9 and A to I are scattered across the board, and you tap them in alternating order, 1, A, 2, B, 3, C…, as fast as you can. A line draws behind you, zigzagging across the board. It’s a game inspired by the classic trail making test: part connect the dots game, part reaction game, and very hard to put down.

A run is three boards, each bigger than the last: 10 circles, then 14, then 18. From board 2 the circles start to drift, slowly bouncing off each other and the walls, and your trail stretches and swings with them. How fast can you finish all three?

Zigzag is part of Unrot, a series of twenty short games that each put one mental skill to the test: memory, attention, speed or logic. Twenty games. Zero brainrot.

How to play

  • Tap 1, then A, then 2, then B, and keep alternating: number, letter, number, letter.
  • Numbers are filled green circles, letters are outlined ones.
  • A wrong tap adds 2 seconds, and the right circle glows for a moment.
  • On a keyboard, just type the label (1–9, A–I).
  • From board 2, the circles drift. Keep your eyes moving.

Scoring

  • Your score is your total time over the three boards, plus 2 seconds per miss. Lower is better.
  • A board with no misses counts as clean.
  • Play the Daily for one scored run on the same boards as everyone else, and keep your Unrot streak alive.

Tips

  • Say it in your head: “1, A, 2, B…”. Losing your place costs more time than a slow tap.
  • While you tap one circle, your eyes should already be hunting for the next.
  • Numbers and letters look different on purpose. Look for the right kind of circle first, then the label.
  • On drifting boards, tap where the circle is, not where it was a second ago.

FAQ

Is Zigzag free?

Yes. Zigzag is free to play in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no download and no account.

How does Zigzag work?

Circles labeled with numbers and letters are scattered on the board. Tap them in order while switching every time: 1, A, 2, B, 3, C and so on. A trail follows you from circle to circle. Clear three boards, each bigger than the last, as fast as you can.

Is this the trail making test?

It's a game inspired by it. The trail making test is a paper task where you connect numbers and letters in alternating order. Zigzag borrows the idea and turns it into a timed, three-board challenge with moving circles. It's for fun, not a test or a diagnosis.

What happens if I tap the wrong circle?

Nothing breaks, but it costs you 2 seconds, and the circle you needed glows for a moment so you can keep going. Your score is your total time, so every miss adds up.

Why are the circles moving?

From board 2 the circles drift slowly and bounce off each other and the walls, and your trail stretches with them. Board 3 has more circles and they drift faster. The layout is the same for everyone on the Daily.
